ICT Silver Bullet
The Silver Bullet only exists inside a one-hour window — most commonly 10:00 to 11:00 New York time. Inside that hour price takes a short-term high or low, displaces hard in the opposite direction and leaves a fresh fair value gap behind. You enter on the first retracement into that gap. If it does not happen inside the hour, there is no trade.
Why it works
Algorithmic delivery is time-based. Certain windows reliably produce the day's cleanest expansion leg. By restricting yourself to one hour you remove the single most expensive habit in trading: taking marginal setups because you are bored.
1m or 3m execution. 15m only to know which liquidity is in play.
10:00–11:00 New York. London variant: 03:00–04:00 New York.
The checklist
- 1Clock is inside the window — no exceptions.
- 2A short-term high or low is taken inside the window.
- 3A strong displacement candle creates a fresh 1m/3m fair value gap.
- 4Price retraces into that gap while still inside or just after the window.
Execution
At the first touch of the fresh fair value gap.
Below the swing low (long) or above the swing high (short) that created the displacement.
10–15 NQ points, or the nearest liquidity pool. Typically 2R.
When you should not take it
- Do not take the setup before or after the window and call it a Silver Bullet.
- Do not chase if the gap is never retested — missed is cheaper than forced.
- Avoid if the window opens straight into a news release.
