NQ, ES.Judas Swing
Early in a session — typically the first 30 to 60 minutes of London or New York — price pushes in one direction, convinces the market a trend has started, then reverses for the rest of the session. The high or low of that false push becomes the day's extreme.
Why it works
The open needs to gather orders from both sides before the real delivery begins.
Timeframes
5m and 15m.
Session
First hour of London (03:00 NY) and of New York (09:30 NY).
The checklist
- 1Directional push right after the open into an obvious level.
- 2No follow-through; price stalls and reverses.
- 3Structure shift against the initial push.
Execution
Entry
After the structure shift, on the retracement.
Stop
Beyond the Judas extreme.
Target
Opposite side of the opening range and beyond.
When you should not take it
- Do not call it a Judas swing while it is still running — wait for the failure.
