A sweep is a push through an obvious high or low followed by an immediate rejection back inside. It is how large orders get filled: by triggering everyone else's stops. Recognising the difference between a sweep and a genuine breakout is the most valuable skill in this entire academy.
Why it works
Price does not move to be fair. It moves to where the orders are.
Timeframes
Level from 15m or daily, sweep read on 1m.
Session
All, most reliable at session opens.
The checklist
- 1An obvious equal high/low or session extreme.
- 2A wick pierces it.
- 3The candle body closes back inside within one or two candles.
Execution
Entry
Not a standalone entry. Wait for a structure shift or inverted gap.
Stop
Beyond the sweep wick.
Target
The opposite liquidity pool.
When you should not take it
- Never enter on the sweep alone. Without confirmation it is a knife catch.
